Overview

The Individual Giving Manager is an integral member of our four-person development team; serves as the lead on our digital and direct mail fundraising campaigns; plays a key role in the cultivation and stewardship of our mid-level donors; oversees prospect research; and supervises interns and volunteers, among other responsibilities. This position reports to the Director of Development.

 

Responsibilities

Revenue Generation

  • Work closely with the Director of Development to design and implement a comprehensive individual giving strategy.
  • Lead digital and direct mail fundraising campaigns, including strategy, copywriting and layout, execution and analysis and reporting.
  • Oversee monthly giving program, from solicitation (via campaigns and targeted outreach) to stewardship.
  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors who contribute $1,000 to $5,000 annually, in addition to managing a portfolio of prospective donors.

Development Operations

  • Ensure donor engagement records are kept up-to-date and accurate for donors giving at the $1,000 to $5,000 level, as well as prospects.
  • Lead research efforts to help build pipelines for this position’s portfolio as well as those of the Major Gift Officer and Director of Development.
  • Provide support on phones, email correspondence and gift acknowledgements as needed.
  • Stay up to date on individual giving trends and strategies through regular surveying of the philanthropic landscape and attending professional development events.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Team Leadership

  • Participate in recruitment and hiring for the department internship program.
  • Train and supervise interns, and provide them with professional development and education about the development field.
  • Help oversee the work of department volunteers and contractors.

Event Management and Support

  • Manage the Brunch and a Broadcast donor program.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of donor stewardship and cultivation events, from small, cultivation events to major organization-wide fundraisers.

 

Skills and Qualifications

  •  Familiarity with and commitment to the mission of Democracy Now!
  • 3 or more years in non-profit fundraising or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 1 year developing successful campaign materials including writing clean and compelling copy
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience working directly with individual donors who give $1,000 or more
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and respond quickly to emerging opportunities
  • Experience managing data in a CRM
  • Excellent customer service skills and proven ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a thoughtful, professional, diplomatic and enthusiastic manner
  • Proficient in digital fundraising toolset including data management and analysis, CRM and email marketing
  • Excellent planning and organization skills
  • Volunteer and/or intern coordination and management experience
  • Familiarity with prospect research software

 

Compensation

  • The salary range is $79,000 - $84,000.

 Other Information

  • This is an NYC-based position with in-person work requirements.
  • This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between Democracy Now! and SAG-AFTRA.
